Little town on the prairie

In a town like mine, expectations are always high. There are multiple steps, all of which must be taken correctly and well-mannered.

  1. You get an education, but this does not mean having a few GCSEs; it means having ten good between C-a** grades. The same applies to higher education, specifically a level college, for non-academics. You will be put in a box of lost causes when you enter college from them.
  2. The next step is university; this is like a marathon. It's the sales section at Zara. It's the absolute casino; everyone wears that TikTok silk slip-on midi dress. In this case, everyone wants that Russell Group University spot, or they failed. And when you did get that support with all the hard work, you were looked down upon as lazy and didn’t take it seriously. However, if you made it to this point with failure or emotional trauma, I commend you; you have achieved the degree probably and first but will settle for a 2:1.
  3. The next step is personal life; parents expect you to find the one at university because of how they met. On top of studying, being the fun guy is daunting, so if you find the one, you're a lucky star shooting through the skies of modern expectations.
  4. Life doesn’t stop there. It would help if you had an excellent job with a good income. You must work hard, exercise, eat healthily, socialise, and relax with your family.

In conclusion, becoming a grown-up is hard. Growing up in a town where the university is expected, not the expectation, is daunting. To hold the weight of a society's judgments of you fails to judge you on your mistakes.
