Welcome to 'The Girl with the Auburn Hair', a blog dedicated to exploring life's beauty and intricacies through a passionate storyteller's eyes. Here, you'll find a collection of personal anecdotes, travel tales, and reflective pieces aimed at inspiring and connecting with readers from all walks of life. Whether navigating the ups and downs of daily life, discovering new destinations, or simply finding joy in the little things, this blog is a space where authenticity and creativity flourish. I aim to build a community of like-minded individuals who appreciate the art of storytelling and seek to find meaning in their journeys. Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy the stories shared here as much as I enjoy writing them.

She is a girl who wants to be anywhere but home. To say she had cabin fever or the traveller bug would be an understatement. She had many names, pain in the … neck, ginger or Elizabeth, and if she ever heard Elizabeth, she knew she was in trouble. She was part of that nuclear family you would see on TV—a mum and dad, an older rebellious brother, and the goody two-shoes daughter.

This girl was small but feisty and always had an opinion on everything. She could talk for Great Britain if she wanted. She was told she would not achieve anything in higher academia and spent her life proving them wrong. However, the best compliment they received was, “You are an encyclopaedia of information”.

Like the earth, she was constantly spinning on her axle, full cylinders blowing, never stopping to look at the world around her. But she only looked forward and never appreciated the journey. She never grew in height but in confidence and belief in herself. If she could, you would always find her at the beach when the sun went down, watching the world go by and breathing in every wave that crashed the shore.

That young, naive girl turned into a woman who is too headstrong for her own good. That girl, female, woman is me
