From my personal experience, these are my top five cities to visit. London is not on this list as it’s in a different breed. London is my local city and will always have my heart with its transport links, history, and rich culture. With each city, there will be a recommendation list I have completed or done myself, tried and tested for you
Cambridge
Mainly known for its university, it is a beautiful city. I have only been there once but explored the city on foot. They went on holiday and saw some men losing their phones and wallets in the water, which was funny to watch but not for him. This is a must. You can see all the university buildings from afar, and you can go inside and explore the rich history of England's most famous university. With a park-and-ride, it’s easy to get into the city without worrying about parking and the city prices for a day of parking. With all the cities, I will discuss all the independent shops perfect for completing your unique trip.
- Punt down the river cam
- visits Jack Gelato for unusual ice cream flavours
- Market stalls
- art and antiquities at the Fitzwilliam Museum
- botanic gardens
- kings college chapel
- cross the mathematical bridge
- the corpus clock
- climb the top of the great St Marys
Bath
Bath is known for its Roman baths, which are a must-visit. Don’t bring your swimmers. You won’t want to go in them. The Bath Cathedral has beautiful shops and parks with the royal crescent with the Gorgonian houses in a semi-circle row of houses in the centre of Bath. You can access the Bath Cathedral for free with the Bath markets, which is a perfect stop for some lunch. I love the anthropology that is in Bath, too. It is a city to have a mooch around if you are heading to places in that direction, but be warned, Bath is not easily connected to a motorway, so there is sometimes some hardcore traffic, but it’s worth it. With its rich history and architecture, it is a city you’ll have your mouth open in ora of with beautiful rivers threading through. Like most cities in the UK, there is a form of park and ride or public transport to get into the city centre quickly, so there is no stress in finding a parking spot.
- the roman baths
- bath abbey
- Pulteney bridge
- no1 royal crescent- act out your Bridgeton moment
- the Jane Austen Centre
- royal victoria park
- theatre royal bath
Liverpool
I always assumed Liverpool was similar to Manchester; however, my brother has lived in both and said Liverpool is more compact in a smaller area. With the Beatles Museum experience, which I highly recommend, with the docks and the Tate Art Gallery, there is much to do in Liverpool. Maybe take a tour of Anfield. It is easy to get on the bus. It will give you goosebumps even if you're not a fan. Explore the bombed cathedral of WW2 or the lever bird and the history of that trusted bird protecting this city. If you want to experience a paddy’s day without leaving England, Liverpool is the place to go, with a vibrant and long Irish history. It has fantastic activities, mini golf and arcades, and all the shops you need from big brands and independents. There are beaches nearby that are easy to get to and create connections with Manchester and London on the train from Liverpool Lime Street.
- Tate art museum
- The Beatles Story Museum
- Junkyard golf ( any mini golf loads to choose from)
- Tour of Anfield
- Royal Albert docks
- Liverpool Cathedral
- Sefton park
- Liverpool Philharmonic
- radio city tower
- Mersey ferry
- bold street shopping
- the baltic triangle
- The Royal Liver Building Clocktower
- NQ24 Arcades Liverpool

Manchester
I have only visited Manchester a few times, but it was terrific. It is a multicultural city with some areas of architectural beauty with the library or the Manchester Museum. If you want to see more beautiful buildings, look at the red brick areas of the University of Manchester, with the Arnidale shopping centre in central. If you are a footy fan, go to the football museum in the central area near the Selfridges. The connectivity through the buses and trams makes it easy to go around. To find some treasure, go to the northern quarter for independent shops. There’s more to London than just central Manchester towns and areas outside places like Stockport, though known for football, has some antique shops. With its independent food and shops, West Didsbury makes you forget you are in central Manchester, which is familiar with cities like that. In London, you forget you are in one of the biggest cities in the country, with different areas and mini boroughs and towns, making it feel a world away from Piccadilly Gardens.
- National football museum
- Manchester Musem
- manchester art gallery
- royal exchange theatre
- Old Trafford or Etihad
- human mario cart
- Northern Quater
- Rudy Pizza
- Warehouse project
- Chinatown
- Gay village for a night out
Brighton
This is the perfect place if you're looking for summer days out. It’s not a sandy beach, but it offers many things. Brighton has the north and south lanes with independent restaurants, cafes, and shops perfect for bits and bobs and home decor. Have a picnic in front of the pavilion with an ice cream or some Pimms. You can sunbathe on the beach, but bring a deck chair or rent one there for the day, as a blanket wouldn’t be comfy. Get those fish and chips and watch the sunset. The pier with the arcades and rides is perfect for entertaining you in the evening. I watched the women’s Euro final, in which England won. There is so much to do that I visited Hove, Hastings, and many other small, idyllic towns over a couple of days. If you want to go hardcore shopping, large companies like Zara and Apple are on the top of the hill down to the beach. This is my recommendation list.
- Alcatraz immersive experience
- royal pavilion
- Brighton palace pier
- Brighton i360
- sea life Brighton
- north laine
- devils dyke national trust
- stroll along the undercliff path
- Marvel at the burnt-down pier
